Women Crowned Champions
A good crowd turned out in the hot weather to support Cramlington Womens team play their last game in the Northumberland Womens League. Cramlington took an early lead after 3 minutes with a superb goal from Rachel Mitchel. North Shields followed it up with 3 well taken goals against the run of play.
After a tough half time team talk Cramlington returned to the pitch showing a new determination and pace to their game and Captain Aran Embleton scored within minutes bringing the game to 3 - 2
North Shields however broke again and scored a fourth. With Cramlington needing at least a draw and now losing 4 - 2 they continued the pressure and after a sustained attack on goal were rewarded with an excellent goal from Rachel Mitchel. With the score now at 4 - 3 Cramlington dug deep and battled hard continuing the pressure on the North Shields goal and Ashleigh Betts levelled the score with a well taken goal. This spurred the Cramlington players on and continued their attack netting a further two goals from Rachel Mitchell & Captain Aran Embleton before the final whistle
Cramlington were crowned League Champions.
